BCB issues directive regarding media interactions

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday (Jannuary 2) circulated a directive to the national players and team management staff regarding their interactions with media. It was issued a day after Tamim Iqbal was fined TK. 5 Lakhs for criticising the wicket and out-field of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League.

According to the directive, BCB staff members, national cricketers, team management staff and members of the national selection panel will not be allowed to interact with any kind of media without prior consent from the BCB Media Committee chairman, the CEO or the senior manager of media and communication.

The directive also instructed the players and team staff against posting any comments or status in the social media that may be interpreted as direct or indirect criticism of the BCB and its policy, the national team, players or team management and officials.

Failure to abide by the direction will be considered breach of BCB’s media protocol and may result in disciplinary actions, stated the paper that was handed to the national players at the training session in the morning at Academy.
